This infographic draws on ecological systems theory, originally conceptualized by Uri Bronfenbrenner in the 1980s, to point out the multiple influences on the LGBTQ community and the continuum of sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) formation. Four research approaches applied in population research across the board are also illustrated as they are often used for understanding the LGBTQ community.

Thanks to the many students and Professor Susan Curnan for providing all of the posters for the Open-Air Journal summer issue to celebrate Pride Month. These posters articulate systemic challenges across the queer community, spark discussion on what we can do to move policy forward, and highlight the intersectional issues that have existed throughout history.
